The ports and how the island is laid out
Paros has its main port at Parikia, the capital, on the west coast. This is where most ferries arrive, and the town spreads back from the harbour around a famous old church. Villages on the map
Paros has a good mix of harbour towns and hill villages. Parikia, the capital and port, has an old town behind the waterfront and the important Panagia Ekatontapyliani church. Naoussa on the north coast is the island’s prettiest spot, a working fishing harbour ringed with tavernas and lanes. Inland, Lefkes is a beautiful marble hill village linked to Prodromos by the old stone Byzantine road, and Marpissa is a village of windmills and a castle. Beaches on the map
