Santorini Bus Timetable

Getting around Santorini by public bus is the cheapest way to travel across the island, and once you understand how the system works, it becomes very easy to use. All local buses are run by KTEL Santorini, and every single route starts and finishes at the central bus station in Fira. This means that if you want to travel between two smaller villages, you will often need to take a bus to Fira first and then change onto another bus from there.

A few things worth knowing before you travel

Tickets are bought directly on the bus and must be paid for in cash, so it is worth keeping some small change with you. The bus network runs a much fuller timetable during the summer season, roughly from April through to October, with extra buses added between June and September. During the winter months, from November to March, far fewer buses run and the timetable can also change slightly at weekends. Because schedules can shift from year to year and sometimes change at short notice, it is always worth double checking the exact times before you travel.

This route matters if you are catching a ferry, but there are only three departures a day, so it is worth checking exact ferry times and giving yourself plenty of extra time, since the journey takes around twenty five minutes.

Winter timetable, roughly November to March

Once the busy season ends, KTEL Santorini cuts back significantly on the number of buses running each day, and only the main routes such as Fira to Airport, Fira to Oia, Fira to Kamari and Fira to Perissa tend to keep a regular, though much reduced, service. Weekend timetables in winter can also differ from weekdays. Because the winter schedule changes from year to year and is not always published clearly online, the safest approach if you are travelling outside the summer season is to call the bus station directly on +30 22860 25404 to confirm times, or to check the printed timetable posted at the bus station itself when you arrive.
