Livadi is the port of Serifos and the first view most people get of the island: a wide, sheltered bay with a sandy beach, and the white houses of Chora stacked high on the hillside above it. Serifos has no airport, so every visitor arrives here by ferry. Livadi is also the largest village on the island, with cafés, tavernas, bakeries and places to stay all around the harbour. From the port, a road and an old stepped path climb up to Chora, and the bus runs between the two through the day. This guide covers Livadi port, getting to Chora and the beaches, the ferries to and from Serifos and tips for your arrival.

Where Is Serifos Port?
The port is at Livadi, on the south east coast of Serifos, in a deep bay that is well protected from the wind. Livadi grew rapidly between 1870 and 1907, when the Greek Mining Company had its headquarters here, and it has since become the island’s main village and tourist centre. The sandy Avlomonas beach, shaded by tamarisk trees, starts right beside the harbour, and Livadakia, one of the best beaches on the island, is a short walk away.
Chora, the island capital, sits about 4.5 km uphill at around 230 metres above sea level. It is one of the most striking hill towns in the Cyclades, crowned by the ruins of the Venetian castle, and you can see it from the deck as your ferry sails into the bay.
