How do I get from Tinos Town to Pyrgos?

About 23 kilometres, around 35 to 40 minutes by car.

Why is Pyrgos called an open air marble museum?

Intricately carved marble appears throughout the village, on shopfronts, doorways and paving, a legacy of its 18th and 19th century marble and shipping wealth.

Who was Yannoulis Chalepas?

A celebrated Greek sculptor born in Pyrgos in 1851, whose childhood home in the village is now a small museum of his work and belongings.

Is there a beach in Pyrgos?

No. Pyrgos is an inland marble village. See the Tinos beach pages for coastal options elsewhere on the island.
